Debi Jones

Debi Jones

The North West’s leading lady has a warm repartee delivered with her slightly naughty sense of humour; all wrapped up with her distinctive music picks.

A woman of many talents, Debi has performed as a singer, radio and television broadcaster, journalist and actress!

Debi started her career as an opera singer aged just 18yrs after winning a national scholarship and went onto sing professionally for many years, both in Britain and abroad. She found she enjoyed the banter with the audience just as much as the singing, and was spotted by the Station Director of BBC Radio Merseyside, who offered her the weekday afternoon show in the 1980’s. Debi became known for her unique “tell it as it is” style of presentation, and in the 5yrs she was there she had one of the largest audiences of any BBC local radio afternoon show in the country.

Debi went on to present People Today the national morning show for BBC 1 television for 3 years, which included her presenting the iconic Pebble Mill at One on a number of occasions.

After having her daughter, she continued her career as a freelance broadcaster, working for Granada Television, Radio 5 Live, and Radio City Gold. In 1997, Debi was approached to head up the first all-British Shopping T.V. channel Shop! and quickly gained a reputation for her naughty sense of humour mixed with an honesty which made her one of the top selling presenters on the channel. She went on to present for Ideal World, Going Places TV, and QVC. She also spent 2 years on TV hosting “Cruising with the Stars”, a daily entertainment show featuring a variety of artistes who work on the cruise ships.

Debi also played a leading role in the award winning film, Distant Voices, Still Lives. She is an established keynote speaker, and host of a wide variety of events in large arenas and theatres, and iconic venues like The Dorchester.
